Description:
This exhibition focuses on immigrant labourers who populated the shores of Jamaica in the post-emancipation era, namely, Liberated Africans, East Indians and Chinese. Apart from those who came under slavery, these are the people to whom Jamaica owes its racial and cultural diversity, which is a hallmark of the Caribbean region. The Jamaican motto, “Out of Many One People” celebrates this diversity because there is no one physical feature that can define us as a people.
